Rule Zero

These rules are not comprehensive and all-inclusive. We cannot write a rule for every possible situation, and cannot write rules that remove all wiggle room or "technically..." arguments. Rule Zero is that we reserve to act in any situation we believe merits it, but if you act like a mature, reasonable, respectful person you won't have a problem.

Player Expectations

1. Be respectful and courteous to your fellow players.

2. No godmodding, no infomodding, no fourth-walling without explicit permission.

3. IC is not OOC; keep them separate.

4. Communicate. Make an effort to resolve problems with your fellow players.

5. Stay IC. Your character is the character you apped, plus existing personality growth and development from in-game.

Game and Community Rules

1. Applications will close when the game has 30 or more players, and will open again when it has fewer.
The game may grow above 30 players in an application round. This way, prospective players do not need to fight over the last limited spaces in a hard cap.

If the game looks to be reaching that size, I will take applications for mod help, which will increase the player cap if found.

2. Players may app up to two characters.
As above, we are open to reconsidering this cap. However, we do request players who may wish to app more characters to consider the spirit of our activity rules.

3. All original or canon character types are welcome. AUs or CRAUs are not permitted. Duplicates are not allowed. Any character may be AUed to the setting.
Characters must have sufficient canon (if canon characters) and quality to be successful. Some niche characters may be unappable. We reserve the right to change this rule if the player or character caps increase or any other situation arises which prevents us from applying strict review to obscure, or original characters.

Setting-AU characters are considered their own characters for the purpose of apping duplicates.

Activity

1. The minimum activity per month is ten adventure comments. Adventure comments feature your character fighting monsters, participating in events, exploring Newase, collecting items, performing sidequests, or otherwise engaging in the sort of activity in which one would expect the protagonists of a fantasy adventure to engage.
This requirement is to maintain the style and tone of the game, provide incentive for players to interact with the plot and the game world, and encourage players to develop the plot, invest in the world, and keep the game flowing smoothly.

2. Additional substantial activity will be reward with Experience Points, which may be spent on various character advancements.
"Substantial activity" is intentionally nebulous. While we have general guidelines, we will for example reward players who put thirty tags into making a player plot successful more than we will reward players who put thirty tags into a pure slice-of-life thread. To that extent, we ask for players' patience and understanding with the system; we will strive to reward behavior which is excellent for the game, without punishing players who engage in private or more slice-of-life RP, but we recognize the system will be imperfect.

However, group threads (with more than two people) will be weighted more heavily to counteract the slower tagging in those threads that results from coordinating multiple people. Party action is encouraged!

3. These rules are not comprehensive.
We will intervene if we see, or have brought to our attention, activity that is consistently at the minimum, consistently with one or two other players only, consistent in closed threads that offer others no chance to interact with your character, consistently dropped threads or last-minute threads or other situations that may warrant concerns that you are not regularly interacting with the game.

That being said, just play and you'll be fine.
